C.V. Combs has been involved in the grocery industry for over 50 years. He started as a clean-up/sacker/errand boy for a local grocer. From there, C.V. worked for several wholesale and retail companies in the industry. In 1970, he opened his first grocery store. And in 1981, in a move to be closer to his parents, he opened his first CV’s Family Foods in Paris, Arkansas.
Since then 13 stores now operate under the CV’s Family Foods banner. In 2004, C.V. purchased the Marvin’s Food Stores to bring the total to 31 stores operating today in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Kansas.
In 2017 CV’s introduced their Shoppers Value Foods “cost plus 10%” stores in select locations offering a whole new way to save money on your grocery shopping.
All along this journey, CV’s success is due in large part to his wife Ann. She has been his greatest supporter over their 50+ years of marriage. Their relationship, built on their faith in God, has been the cornerstone of C.V.’s emphasis on building a great atmosphere for his personnel to grow both personally and professionally. They both treat the personnel of CV’s, Marvin’s and Shoppers Value Foods as family members. This is the pattern they have used for their success: “Do unto others as you would have done to you”.
